NI USB-600x / NI-DAQmx Base 2.2 compatible with DirectX or OIS ??

Hello Dear everybody,

I was a using a USB interface card from another vendor (not NI!!) with a few ADQ for input and output. However that other card was not able to run with DirectX ie that driver crashed DirectX at each programm call. Nonetheless it is essential for our application to have access to some joystick (through standard API interfaces) at the same time as controlling analogue input and output via the USB card.

my question would be :
using NI USB-6008 or 6009 together with the ANSI-C API provided in NI-DAQmx, would it be possible to use at the same time a USB joystick which is read from by DirectX / DirectInput ?

many thanks for any help / link / .. in advance

Hello Coate,

I didn't notice any issues using NI USB acquisition hardawre and DirectX. The only point who may be potentially problematic is the bandwith of the bus. But I doubt it will be so. National Instruments USB devices are built to USB 2.0 Full-Speed specification which presents a total bandwidth limit of 12Mbps. Note that there are further limitations in continuous acquisition and streaming of data, and these theoretical rates may not be achieved on every computer system.

Cordially,
