Hi:
I have installed the NIDAQmx that shipped with our USB6008's and it works fine on a given session. However, often if I plug the USB6008 in say the next day when I have restarted the computer, it often will prompt me to find the driver. Usually the only way I can get it to work again is to reinstall the driver from the CD. How can I prevent this from happening?
Thanks,
Matt

Hi,
What version of DAQmx do you currently have installed?
If you are not up to date then please go to this link http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1085/lang/en to update to DAQmx 8.8 unfortunately it is a very large file so it will take a while to download but this should solve your problem . If you already have 8.8 installed let me know and I can look into this issue further.
Best Regards

Matt,
Just to completely confirm, are you claiming that sometimes when you plug in the 6008 the "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up? If so, does the driver install correctly if you continue through the Wizard, or does it just show up as an unrecognized USB device?
If the Found New Hardware wizard works, but is coming up too often, you can upgrade to NI-DAQmx 8.7.2 or 8.8. These drivers have a new feature which allows Windows to install the driver, without the user having to click through the Found New Hardware wizard. If the Found New Hardware wizard does not work it will be helpful to have a few more details about how it fails before you attempt to upgrade the driver. Could you take some sceen shots of the device list in device manager? You can open device manager by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting "Manage" than click on device manager and find the USB-6008 in the device tree.

Hi:
Thanks for your help.
Yes that is exactly what happens.
Below is a clip from MAX_properties. I guess it is 8.7.1. So I guess I have to download it. I need to distribute this to several computers -can I get this onto a CD?
<<<snip>>>
NI-DAQ 7.4.4f7
NI-DAQmx 8.7.1f2
NI-DAQmx Base 3.1.0f2 3.1.0f2

Thanks,
Matt

Hello again,
As I mentioned previously the driver file is about 1 Gb so it wont fit on a CD, however you will be able to burn it to a DVD. Or if your machines are networked you could share the driver over LAN and push it onto each machine.
Kind Regards
