PCI-1200 replaced by PCI-6221

Hi,

Our client has a PC with 4 X PCI-1200 connected to a fiber coupler GYCW-4. Recently one of the PCI-1200 card broke down and they called us for a replacement. I called up NI and the salesperson suggested a new model (replacement model?) called PCI-6221. My questions:

1) Can PCI-1200 be replaced with PCI-6221?
2) Can PCI-6221 mix with other 3 PCI-1200?
3) Will there be any problem?

FYI, I'd really like to purchase PCI-6221 because it's half the price of PCI-1200. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Yes it can be, in hardware functionality and performance terms, M series will exceed the PCI 1200

2) Can PCI-6221 mix with other 3 PCI-1200?

The major problem I can think of is the driver incompatibility between the two devices

PCI 1200 has only Traditional DAQ driver support ( 6.9.3 or lower)

Whereas PCI 6221,  is supported only by DAQmx and does not support Traditional DAQ device drivers

Also, If you are usingWindows NT, PCI 6211 will require NT Service Pack 6 or greater.

So if you have an application program running, you will have to modify it for your PCI 6221.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Dev

Is the connector the same?  I am looking to purchase a PCI-6221 to replace a PCI-1200 and wondering if it will connect.

Hello sberes,

if you now the driver, look into the readme, if a E-Series is supported from the driver, then the adapter can be an option for you.

best regards
