PCI-6010 chm help file

Solved!
Go to solution

I have downloaded and unzipped the NI_6010_Help.chm file from NI. When I open it the window's right message pane says "Navigation to the web page was cancelled", and none of the left-pane contents can be viewed. An old NI FAQ posting claimed this was a Windows security setting issue, but the solution suggested (changing a file Properties attribute) there did not apply to my Win Vista system.

Hi src42,

This is a problem with the enhanced Windows security.  If you copy the .chm file to your desktop, you can right-click and open properties.  At the bottom of the General tab is a button that says "Unblock".  Click on this, and then click OK.  You will then be able to open the file without any issues.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I tried this earlier, and no "unblock" option is available in my Vista setup. I do seemingly have Full file permissions granted, though.

Hmmm.  Let me look into it.  Unblock is what you do on Win7, and I assumed it was the same on Vista.

Unfortunately, one of the Windows security patches made opening .chms a little more difficult for Vista and XP users.

I've attached a PDF of a newer version of the 6010 manual to this post. The "preliminary" stamp is just an indicator that this manual isn't actually released yet.
