PCI-6229 DAQ Digital Output Control

Hi, I'm using PCI-6229 DAQ card to build some control into my machine. I need to generate some analog output & also Digital Input & output. Is it possible for me to control my machine 24VDC relay by digital input directly ?? I did found some information & read through the hardware specification, the PCI-6229 digital output only able to connect to 5VDC as source & max current draw is 25ma.
Is that correct spec ?? Anyone out there connect the digital output to control higher source load & how did you do that ? Please help.....

Hi Steven,

If you want to bring in 24v from your relay to the digital input of the 6229, this will not work as the DIO lines work on TTL Logic (0v-.8 is low, 2.2-5.25v is high) and 24v volts is too high and will damage the card. If you want to drive 24V out from the digital lines, this is not possible either for the same reason. If you have a relay (feed through for 24v line) which works on TTL logic, then yes, you can control this relay with a digital line.

The specification sheet for the PCI-6229 can be found here.

Hi Steven-

As David mentioned, the limitation for the digital input lines of your card are 5V logic.  If you need to operate with 24V logic levels, I would encourage you to check out the Isolated M Series (for example, the PCI-6232).

Hopefully this helps-
