Problem with the measurement & autamation explorer

Dear Community,

We are dealing with gravimeters, devices that measure absolute value of gravitation. After the last “upgrade” of the manufacturer they changed the internal barometer and the temperature sensor by an A2D Card from NI, namely NI PCI-6013 and the NI PCI-6025E. If these two devices are configured in the Measurement & Automation Explorer, MAX (Version 15.3.0f0) as shown in Fig.1, NI PCI-6013 “Dev1” and NI PCI-6025E “Dev2” our system software is working fine and the two values for temperature and pressure are recorded correctly.

Because our device is a portable measurement device we have to shut down and build it up somewhere else. I simulated now these build up cycle by a restart of the PC, where the MAX runs. After restart the MAX has located a third device NI PCI-6025E “Dev3” see Fig.2. And after a second restart the situation is the following showing in Fig.3. To read out the serial port a USB/serial adapter is used. First idea was to exchange this adapter, but the system behavior is for three different adapters the same.

To work around this problem, I disable the two devices (NI PCI-6013 and the NI PCI-6025E) in the device manager of my windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1). After Enabling of these two devices they are visible in the MAX as devices with higher numbers. For example NI PCI-6013 “Dev4” and NI PCI-6025E “Dev5”. I rename “Dev4” in “Dev1 and “Dev5” in “Dev2” and delete the residual devices and got the same situation like in Fig.1 and the sensors are working fine.

But how can I fix the devices and avoid this work around the problem.

It would be great if somebody can help me.

Regards

Erik

This isn't much of a diagnosis, but I think if I ran into something like this, I would:

1. back up my info using the menu File-->Export...

2. manually remove or delete all the listed devices.

3. let MAX rescan using the menu View-->Refresh

4. If things were still questionable, I'd use the "nuclear option" and select the menu item Tools-->Reset Configuration Data.  This makes a fresh start if/when the MAX database gets corrupted somehow.

ALERT! LabVIEW's subscription-only policy came to an end (finally!). Unfortunately, pricing favors the captured and committed over new adopters -- so tread carefully.
