Problems with daqmx analog input

Hey.  I am using labview 7.1 with a pci 6024E card.  I am trying input an analog signal and show it on a graph.  At first I did this with the traditional daq using AI acquire waveform and it worked perfectly.  However, I need to use DAQmx because other vis that I use are DAQmx and the card can't have both traditional and mx at the same time.  My problem is that I can't get labview to read in the signal using DAQmx assistant ->analog input ->voltage.  My signal is coming into channel ai1 and when I selcect that channel regardless of the the signal truely is it is showing up as +5V.  I tried going back to AI acquire waveform again using ai 1 and it works, just not with the DAQmx....i tried switching to a different channel, still no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot,
Zack

Hey Zack,

You are correct that you cannot use both DAQmx and Traditional DAQ at the same time. You can have both drivers installed but you must reset the drivers been use. You can do this in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) by right-clicking on Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices and choosing Reset Driver for Traditional NI-DAQ. You can reset the DAQmx driver by going to Tools » NI-DAQmx Configuration » Reset NI-DAQmx Configuration.

Also, does you signal show up fine when you use the Test Panels in MAX? What does it show when you send nothing?

Hi.  Thank you for your reply.  When I use the Test Panels in MAX the signal shows up perfectly. However, when I use the input analog voltage in DAQ Assistant (for the same exact channel as I had done in the Test Panels) then it shows up as +5 Volts regardless of what I give it.

I appreciate any advice you can offer,

Zack

Hey Zack,

It sounds like it is a problem with the configuration of your DAQ Assistant. Are you sure that all of the settings are correct? Are you sure you have selected the correct physical channel? You may want to delete you DAQ Assistant and create a new one from scratch to go through all the configuration steps again. If you would like I can have a look at it. You can post screenshots of both your Test Panels and your DAQ Assistant configuration.

Hi. Thanks for guiding me in the right direction. For some reason the DAQ assistant defaulted to differential instead of RSE. When I switched to RSE it worked fine.
Thanks again,
Zack
