I need to measure a current in microvolt range. I allow this current to pass through a 1 ohm resistor ( therefore I=V)and measure voltage across it .
Can i use my DAQ 6020E analog input channel to do so?
I see that it saves data upto 6 places of decimal, however the specs indicate the resolution as 4096 bits.

Hello Poli,
It all depends on how precise and accurate your readings need to be. The absolute accuracy of the NI DAQPAD 6020E at the ±50 mV range at full scale is specified as 91 µV. The relative accuracy resolution is specified at 56 µV, although this can be improved through averaging. If you need more precise measurement of your signal you would either need to increase your resistance (to give you a larger voltage to read) or switch to a different device (M-Series USB Multifunction DAQ devices have either 16 or 18 bits of resolution). If you want even more resolution you may want to consider the NI USB-4065 USB DMM.
