Reduce noise of a 1 to 9 VDC measurement by USB-6001

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi, we use the SCC-AI03 module in a SC-2345 box to measure the voltage signal (1 to 9 VDC) from a pressure transducer.  We plan to replace the old setup with a USB-6001.  We only need to record the pressure from two transducers.  We found the signal from USB-6001 has higher noise than the old SC-2345/SCC-AI03.

We use LabView to run the measurement.  The setting is as follow:

-- Terminal configuration: RSE

-- Timing settings: Model N samples, Samples to read 100, Rate (Hz) 1K

The SCC-AI03 has f0=10kHz.  How can we improve the performance of the USB-6001 measurement?  Thanks a lot.

Please share data on the noise you captured.

Note that 6001 is an entry-level DAQ and not comparable to high-end X-series DAQ performance.

What DAQ were you previously using with the signal conditioning box?

Hi santo_13,

The DAQ currently used is 6036E.  I attached signal collected by USB-6001 and 6036E.  The timing is set as 100 samples and 1kHz.  We measured for 1 minute and get 600 data points.

We tried the USB-6001 is because we have one available.  Our budget is a little tight for this project.  Do you think a USB-6003 or USB-6421 can reduce the noise?

We use the single-ended connection on USB-6001.  Do you think the differential can reduce the noise?

Do you think a grounded enclosure help to reduce the noise?

it depends on what kind of noise you're dealing with

Hi Santo_13,

Thank you very much.  I am sharing the information with colleagues.  We are trying to reduce the noise of this DAQ setup following the instruction, and will use it as a guideline for the other projects.
