main difference b/w the chassis and stand alone chassis and controller e.g

NI cDAQ-9138 Real Time

and

NI cDAQ-9178

which one is better?

The 9138  is a Stand-Alone Chassis, running Windows or RTOS.

The 9178 is just a Chassis holding your IO-Modules. You need to have a computer connected to do measurements.

And the questions which one is better, can only be answered if we know your needs.

Anyway I would recommend to contact your local NI Office and talk with an Technical Sales Representative.
