Synchronise DAQ to non-NI hardware

I am using a PCI-6224 DAQ card, and am trying to synchronise it to an external reference clock supplied by non-NI hardware - a GPS receiver.

I am aware that synchronisation can be achieved by using the RTSI bus, but my non-NI hardware does not support this bus.

Is it possible to synchronise the DAQ card to an device that does not support RTSI?

Many thanks,

Karl Wette

For most operations this is possible, as long as you the external device in question is able to provide a clocked (digital) signal. What you are probably looking for is referred to in NI-DAQ as an externally clocked application.

If you are able to find an example that performs the operation you need for your application and also makes use of an external clock, then I would recommended starting with that. On a multifunction DAQ board, you will want to connect the external clock to one of the PFI lines.

If you have any other questions please let us know.
