Take readings of Vibrating Wire Gage

I am trying to read the strain from a vibrating wire gage. Is that possible to use a NI LVDT card to acquire the data?

what type of strain sensoric do want to use?

classical resitive strain gauge bridge?

charge based piezo sensor?

laser ?

or ?

It was a GEOKON vibrating wire gage which basically measures the frequency of a string and convert it into strain.

So the information is the frequency.

Well, depending on the frequncy range you can use analog input (maybe even a soundcard) or a timer/counter input.

If you use an anlog input you can use the the 'extract single tone vi' to detect the major frequency...

What type of exitation or power supply is needed?
