Temperature Measurement

I need to measure temperature for few minutes, see diagram and record results. I have a CB-68LP pinout board with a PCI 6023E card. I have been using type T type thermocouples (L-0044T) and have a problem to collect temperature. Thermocouple is connected to pins 68 and 34 but reading is not correct. Even that I have selected temperature to be measured in Celsius there are numbers that doesn’t make right. I have tried few thermocouples and is still the same. In the MAX under Data Neighborhood, NI-DAQmx Tasks I created a new “My temperature task”  and selected T thermocouple with it reading in on Ai0.

What can be wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well Dean.

what readings are you getting?  How are you controlling the 6023E?  can you read a voltage off the thermocouple with a DMM?  can you see a voltage source applied to AI0?

One of these will answer your question.

Hi Dean,

Thank you for posting on the discussion forums. Based on what you posted, it is a little bit hard for me to exactly identify what kind of reading you are getting, therefore, I will stick to the general troubleshooting techniques.

Pins 34 and 68 correspond to differential measurement. The first question  to ask is whether you are setting your task as differential?

Have you tried reading a voltage source on your analog in just to make sure that your card is working properly?

Finally, I recommend taking a look at the following online document for troubleshooting unexpected voltages on the DAQ device.
