I have a USB 6341 DAQ that's probably fried. The USB cord we plugged into it shorted out and started melting. Not only did that seem to fry the DAQ, but also the motherboard of the PC it was plugged into, all within a matter of seconds. Are there any fuses that I can check and replace, is there a troubleshooting guide or other parts I can replace, and/or is there a way to confirm the DAQ is truly dead. Here's what I've done and noticed so far.
Adding to the mystery, we had another, similar DAQ (NI USB-6351) in another building. Last time we used it it worked, but now it seems to be dead too with the same symptoms (Active and ready lights turn on momentarily but nothing else happens, not recognized by any PC). Any thoughts on what might be wrong, if it is a similar issue, or what I can do to fix it? Thank you so much for your help.

The specs do not mention any user-serviceable fuses in the device.
The only option is to try a good USB cable and a computer with DAQmx drivers that work with other DAQs; if those don't work, it is probably dead.
