USB-6225 not recognized, no light

Solved!
Go to solution

My PC can no longer talk to the 6225 and is not seen by the driver.  It was working fine.  There are no lights on the 6225 (the unit is usually enclosed and I cannot normally see the lights).  Can I assume LEDs should light even if not communicating?  I have assumed something is wrong with the hardware and have checked the voltages, fuse etc.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide.  Steve D.

I would try to connect it to another USB port an even another computer.

Thanks for responding.

I tried another computer, but no response on either of the LEDs, nor did Windows come up and say something was connected. This other computer does not have any NI software installed and I don't know if that makes a difference.

The User Guide says “… have two LEDs that reflect the device state. The green READY LED indicates
when the device is powered on and configured as a USB device. The yellow ACTIVE LED indicates USB bus activity.”

Perhaps the USB-6225 is locked in some bad state?  Not sure what they mean by configured as a USB device; I have no idea how to configure it if I can't talk to it. The LEDs blink very briefly on power up and I saw 5V and 3.3V on the regulators, but I’m lost as to what else to look at.  Any suggestions cheerfully appreciated.

I had the board repaired.  The USB connector was broken.  For the record the answer is that the green light is lit when it has established a connection.  Both lights will be dark if it is disconnected.  Do not expect the green light to come on if there is power only.
