USB 9215 Seen by Windows 2K, not by DAQMX Base (1.4, 2.0) .

I am trying to install a USB 9215 with NIDaqMX Base (1.4 or 2.0). When I plug it in to my lab PC (Windows 2000 -Service Pack 4) Windows sees it but won't install it. NiDaqMX Base and MAX don't see it. It runs fine on my office PC (win2K-SP4 again, NIDaq MX Base 1.4). I tried to copy the actual driver over but windows won't allow me to select a ".sys" file using the new hardware wizzard. On the computer where it works, the driver shows up at WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\nipalusb.sys.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Greetings Fuller,

The first thing you will need to determine is if you have the USB 9215 or USB 9215A, because the 9215A actually runs on NI-DAQmx while the 9215 runs on NI-DAQmx Base.  To determine which device you have, please refer to this KnowledgeBase article.  Once you determine which device you have, you can use this link to download the appropriate driver for your hardware (notice that this link instructs you to use NI-DAQmx Base version 1.4, not 2.0).

Hopefully this will solve the issue.  If you think you have the right driver/hardware combination, try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, instead of copying it from one machine to another.  Remember also that the driver must be installed prior to plugging the device into the system.

Let us know if you have any additional questions...

Regards,

Nicholas B, National Instruments
