I have a CompactRIO 9045 and two instruments that I want to control via RS232. This CompactRIO has only one RS232 port, however, it also has an RS485 port. My question is, can I use the RS485 port with some sort of cable or converter and control my RS232 instrument?
I have searched the NI website and found a cable which supports RS232 and RS485 (Serial Cable 184428-01). Does this mean that I can put this cable in the RS485 port and connect it to my RS232 instrument and it will work, or do I still need some sort of converter in-between?
If I need a converter, what would you recommend?
