Using NI cDAQ 9172 virtually

Hi everybody,

I am very new to labview and at the moment in the learning phase. I have to design an instrumentation, control and measurement of our pilot scale plant, which is currently controlled by C shard. I would like to do that all in LabView as its better than C sharp.

The plant is controlled by NI cDAQ9172 module with:

4 pressure sensors (NI 9203)

10 temperature sensors (NI 9217)

and 33 dosing units (NI 9403)

My question is can i start with a virtual module without connecting it to the real module (NI cDAQ 9172). I have added the device in NI MAX software under "Devices and interface". But how i can run that in labview in virtual mode.

Could anybody guide me through that. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,

first you have to add your device cDAQ 9172 in MAX (you did) after that you have to add your modules 9203, 9217, 9403. You see it listed in MAX.

After that you creat a new VI and use the DAQ-Assistant. Below you can find a link, how to use DAQ-Assistant.

It leads you through the configuration. Now you can choose your virtual modules for input/output.
