Hi all
I am using a Power Amplifier (PA) in audio frequency range (4 KHz - 12 KHz) with a Transducer. PA can output 300 Vrms voltage at 12 KHz across Transducer. I need to use Transducer both for Transmission & Reception which mean a T/R switch or relay required. During my search I came across NI PXI-2586 Relay Card.
I have some queries related to PXI-2586 acting as T/R switch if someone can kindly clarify them.
1. Can PXI-2586 handle 300 Vrms signal @ 12 KHz frequency?
2. In receive mode, transducer produces very low voltages (normally in u-volts). Can such low voltage signals pass through PXI-2586 relays uneffected?
Functional diagram of what i want to do is attached below:
During Transmission, k0, k1 relays will be ON while k2, k3 will be OFF (avoiding high voltage signals at PXIe-4464 pre-amplifiers).
During Reception, k2, k3 relays will be ON while k0, k1 will be OFF.
Kindly guide me if i use PXI-2586 in such applications?
Thanks

Hello, ASIM BHATTI
In the PDF documentation, that I have linked, on the first 5 pages you can find all the restrictions associated with PXI-2586

Hello Hamlet23
I have read data sheet of PXI-2586 before posting my question as i cannot confirm my requirements from this data sheet before purchasing these cards.
Thanks & Regards

Asim Bhatti, for your first question I can say yes, it can handle the signal with that parameters.
What about your second question, from the graph that I pinned from my linked document, the affect on the signal is too small because of the frequency that you mentioned and doesn't play any role. The affect on the signal increases on the GHz frequency. Thank you for the interesting questions.

Hi Hamlet23
As i want to use PXIe-4464 to digitize transducer voltages, I had posted a question separately "Measurement of hydrophone signals using PXIe-4464" whether PXIe-4464 can be used to measure low voltage signals (in u-volts perhaps) of transducer/hydrophone directly i.e. without any amplification circuit b/w transducer and PXIe-4464 but did not get any answer yet.
Can you kindly put some light on this also?
Thanks
