Using an external PCMCIA port for NI-DAQ 6036E

I have a NI-DAQ 6036E 16-bit card.  The internal PCMCIA drive that reads the card is fried and I need to either replace the entire motherboard or try an external PCMCIA drive.  I am using the card to acquire acoustic data at a sampling rate of 40000 Hz.  Is it feasible to use an external drive and if so what type would you recommend?

Hi Engineer8,

Although some PCMCIA to USB/PCI adapters may work, we have not tested these and do not officially support them.  The KnowledgeBase article, KB 2FSFI7YP: DAQCards or CAN Devices Fail to Get Recognized Through PCMCIA-to-PCI Adapter, suggests a vendor for PCMCIA adapters.  Remember to install the adapter driver before connecting your DAQCard-6036E to the adapter.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards
