VS2010 crashes with BSOD when target Framework is changed

Hi Efrain, I hope you find a solution soon. After several crashes of my computer and those of two colleagues I finally found this topic. The crash scenario works flawlessly on my XP PRO SP3 machine. Sjoerd

I am very sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this problem. Unfortunately, I do not have any information of when will this issue be fixed. At this point our R&D department is actively working on it.

the worst thing is that it destroys the visual studio installation, so after the BSOD I need to reinstall visual studio. 😞 and I have tried 2 times now.. and with the same result.

Hi,

I had to reinstall on two different PC's yesterday so I had some time to search the web.
The problem might be with Visual Studio. I found this topic at Microsoft in which someone also mentions nipalk.

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vssetup/thread/64aae6a0-c70c-46b3-bfe3-6b9078153158

Both my computers gave this side by side error.

Since I expect to get the error more often I've made a copy of my VS2010 installation directory to see if copying the file back will be enough and a complete reinstall/repair won't be necessary.

I really hope that Microsoft or National Instruments can find a solution.

Hi,

When I look at that forum again I think the original poster of this tread also found it.

I'm very desperate for the issue,

I need to add olny 2 dig. output to my application, after buing 2 usb products.

I can't integrate .net assemblies in my C# application

NI must find a temporary solution... How I can use the libraries in c# 2010? Framework ver 2 / 3.5 / 4 ?

I need a temporary solution, so I can deliver my machine...

My company want my head ...

Hi, Is there any progress on this issue? I've had to reinstall Visual Studio several times and I've even had to reinstall my computer after a recent crash. In one of today's crashes my source files where deleted instead of my output files. It is getting really impossible to work with National Instruments hardware this way. Sjoerd

Same issue, same results, so not much to add in that department.

I am surprised to not see any mention from any NI moderators as to the latest release of NI-DAQmx

NIDAQ922f0_downloader.exe (1115 MB)

at

and Measurement Studio 2010 which has true support for VS2010.

I thought once Measurement Studio 2010 came out we would finally have support for .NET 4.0 since the previous version for VS2008 supported version 3.5 of the .NET framework.  Is the latest version of NiDaqmx still stuck at framework 3.5?  Since this issue occurs when I switch framework back to what I think I have to for NiDaqmx to work why can't we, as in you, just release a NiDaqmx release that supports 4.0?

Apparently I'm still missing a resolution to this issue.  If this thread is closed I would have thought that a Moderator would have chimed in by now.

Hi Grant,

This thread has a link to NI-DAQmx 9.2.3, which adds .NET Framework 4.0 support for the DAQmx .NET API: Version conflict for NationalInstruments.Common between NI-DAQmx and Measurement Studio 2010.

However, the NI-PAL BSOD is currently under active investigation and is not fixed in NI-DAQmx 9.2.3. Targeting .NET 3.5 with VS2010 still causes a BSOD with NI-DAQmx 9.2.3.
