What is the correct device identifier for input and output in daqmxbase

I compiled the Examples that comes with the NIDaQmxbase, compiling, linking and .exe generation is succesful. But in the .exe file i get a error mesasge :

"DAQmxBase Error: <err>Device identifier is invalid."

I used Dev\ai0 for input channel and i am getting this error message. Please tell me what is this problem due to so i can fix it.

You need an actual id. For example Dev1 or Dev2.

Yes, sorry for the error in the post.
I did use Dev1\ai0 not Dev\ai0

I don't use DAQmx base so I don't know if it's the same as using DAQmx but is the device listed in MAX and is it listed as Dev1?
