When using DAQmx or DAQ assistant initializing process froze

Hello everybody,

I bought a NI-DAQpad 6015 BNC device for USB I would like to use with my notebook (Win XP (home unfortunately), Intel Centrino).
Installation of Labview 7.1 and NI-DAQmx 7.4 is of no problem. Afterwards it is possible to start the MAX and recognize the USB DAQ device. Running the testpanel is also succesfully acomplished.

Nevertheless as I am new to this Labview business I try to use the DAQmx or DAQ assistant blocks to start first simple DAQ tasks. Everytime when I start to run this DAQ configuration wizard (double click on the assistant icon), the initialization process froze.
I have to kill this process by windows task manager to restart my computer.
On the other hand it is of no problem performing these tasks on a desktop pc with win xp professional.

I would be thankful for any help

Hello,

my problem is solved so far, but I don't know how it did.
After trying to start the DAQ assistant several times everytime with the result of a neverending initializition process I tried a given example vi for the 6015 DAQpad. This worked. So I continued by copying every step of this vi (Analog input, measure voltage vi) to my personal needs. This time the device has been detected with the "physical channel" block. Just for the fun of it I once again tried to start the DAQ assistant again and now it worked!
I never changed any preferences nor the device settings for the DAQ pad. I am still working with Labview 7.1 and NI-DAQmx 7.4 . Is there any fundamental user error I made which was solved by loading and executing the example vi?
By the way I also had the total computer crash/reboot when switching off the usb device while the measurement was running. This happened by accident, but after rebooting the system was fine again.
