I would like to use the analog output of a NI-6008 to control a proportional solenoid valve, either 0 - 5V or 0 - 10V, but the 6008 does not supply enough current to do so directly. I thought I had seen an amplifier circuit somewhere on the NI site but I am unable to locate anything like that. Does someone have a circuit that I can use?

Just look in Digikey for a digital buffer chip that can output the current you need.

Can you provide an example of what chip I might use? Sadly, my theoretical side in electronics has declined as I am mostly doing repairs and not design. Of course, if I were allowed to use 'spare' and 'time' in the same sentence, I would use that to study more!

What are the current and voltage requirements for your solenoids? Even someone who has a lot of design experience needs numbers to start a design.

The 0 - 5VDC requires 375mA maximum while the 0 - 10VDC model requires 185mA maximum.

One easy approach would be to use a power op amp. OPA569 up to 2 A, but limited to 5 V. LT1970 500 mA 36 V. LM675 3 A 16-60 V. I found these with a quick Google search. There are others. You may need to include protection diodes, heat sinks, and other related parts.
