I have a SICK BKS09-ATBM0520 wire draw absolute encoder that communicates through SSI. I was told I could do this using a S.E.A. 9521 module with a cRIO 9040. I now have both of them but I am having problems getting the system working. While going through setting up the cRIO 9040 I have been told that I need both the LabVIEW FPGA module and the LabVIEW Real-Time module. I am only trying to use the cRIO 9040 like a cDAQ to get an on demand reading from the wire draw encoder and I do not need anything in real time.
I have LabVIEW 2017 installed, LabVIEW FPGA Module installed
When I open MAX I can see the cRIO-9040 under devices but I don't see it when I expand Remote Systems
Do I need LabVIEW Real-Time module?
Do I need the cRIO-9040 connected to the computer by both the USB-C and the ethernet port?
How do I determine what is missing to get the system running?
