i am using SC-2040 as an accessory with PCI-6035E for my DAQ system. I have a new and urgent requirement of measurement of a set of thermocouple outputs, as part of the project. Can I use my existing setup of SC-2040 and PCI-6035E for this? Do i need to take any precaution? How much error can be expected in this?

I have never used those devices, but I looked at the SC-2040 manual. While you can certainly measure voltages in the range generated by thermocouples, this device is not designed to work with thermocouples. 1. It does not have cold junction compensation. 2. Its offset voltage may be large enough to introduce some error. 3. The hold step may produce significant errors.
Can you use a semiconductor or thermistor sensor rather than thermocouples? They tend to have somewhat larger output voltages and do not require cold junction compensation.
