connect encoder with connector box

Hi , i want to connect the optical encoder (British encoder 734-L1 No:7B2824 360PPR) with the connector box CB-68LPR . Im using DAQ PCI-6023 and have to measure angular position (degrees of crankshaft).

My problem is that the encoder has a lot of cables that i dont know where i must place them on the connector box.

Thanks in advance.

I've never used one of those encoders, but I recommend following the next process:

  1. Go to the specifications sheet of your encoder and find which signals each cable carries. Usually there will be A and B channels, as well as an optional Z index.
  2. Understand how the NI CB-68LPR Connector Block maps to your PCI-6023 pinout.
  3. Understand how the E series DAQ devices use counters to use encoders:
    1. E Series User Manual (page 107)
    2. Using Quadrature Encoders with E Series DAQ Boards
  4. Connect the pins of your encoder to the appropriate pins of your device:
    1. Connecting Quadrature Encoders to a DAQ Device
    2. Connecting an Encoder to a Counter
