how to select fillter type for mil volts strain gages

I am trying to filter 4 strain gauges in which I have no information about the strain gauges or there current condition (testing shows that they are still functioning properly).   I have tried several filter types but they do not seem to give desirable results they only seem to scale my input signal.  I would like to use a sub.vi but would also like to know if an external signal conditioning setup would help.  Any comments you may have would be appreciated.

Hello James,

How are you currently reading these strain gauges?  What hardware are you using?  Have you looked at the Filters palette in LabVIEW?  You might get your desired results with one of these VIs.  To access them, right-click on the block diagram and select Analyze >> Signal Processing >> Filters.

You might also be interested in hardware signal conditioning.  Please see the following links for information on SCC and SCXI strain gauge modules.  They provide excitation voltages, gain, and filtering options.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Sean C.
