myDAQ vs USB-6008

Hello everyone! I am a student and I want to buy a DAQ for my personal use. After hunting down the net, I came across two DAQ devices that could meet my needs - NI myDAQ and NI USB-6008. All the features that myDAQ provides is also present in USB-6008 (some features can be used with LabVIEW). So, which one should I choose?

Hi maxmiaggi

the hardware will depend on the type of projects you plan to do. the myDAQ includes a DMM, 200kS/s analog sampling rate, and access to 8 software instruments (Oscope, DMM, Function Generator, Bode Analyzer ect). Take a look here for more info http://www.ni.com/mydaq/.You can check with your local office to see if myDAQ is available in your region.

What types of tasks, projects do you plan to work on?

Well, I am from India and myDAQ is available here. I basically want to use it for my personal use, like sometimes we get some mini-projects from the university, etc. I am also currently working on a project to build a humanoid. So I was also thinking to use it there on a short-scale purpose. So, what do you think, which one would be better for me, myDAQ or USB-6008?

Hahaha, if you're going to build a humanoid, you'll need more than the myDAQ or USB-6008. 🙂

I think you should think through this question yourself a little longer.  Both units have specs online.

Personally I bought the USB-6008 since my main goal was for Labview training and such.  The myDAQ has the Audio input/outputs if I remember correctly which could be fun for some things.  I'm also considering creating an H-Bridge driver board to drive stepper motors and such, but that can be done with either unit I think.

🙂
