new board with same part number doesn't work in old system

Replaced old AT-MIO-16E-2 with new AT-MIO-16E-2.
Old board works, new one does not.
Does NI-DAQ need to be upgraded?
Will upgraded NI-DAQ work with old Labview(4.0)?
Shouldn't new board work with old NI-DAQ (5.1)?
Upon swapping in the new board, Windows "detected new hardware" and installed drivers. Then when running Labview, errors came up as if the board wasn't communicating. Then put in the old board and it worked ok. So if my old board malfunctions, then I can't use the new one to replace it?

Greetings,

You should be able to use any AT-MIO-16E-2 with version 5.1 of NI-DAQ. When you install the new AT-MIO-16E-2, is it present in the NI-DAQ Configuration Utility? If so, are you able to Test Resources and Run Test Panel (available after you press the Configure button)? Also, does the new AT-MIO-16E-2 appear in the Windows Device Manager? If so, does it indicate any problems/conflicts?

Good luck.
