I am using a PCI 6229 as a DAQ and command signal device (obviously). We are using this for our analog/digital controller for dynamic testing machines. It seems there is some crosstalk somewhere between our controller and the graphics card. We get unexpected changes in our software outputs (p gains and phase shifts for example). The controller recognizes on the input that the phase has been shifted but it is not shifted in our software.
I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with crosstalk on the bus between this and a graphic/video card, or even another PCI card.
Another reason we think it is on the PCI bus is; we installed the video card driver and then restarted our controller and we got all kinds of phase shifts, gain errors, and so on. We removed the driver and plugged the monitor back into the motherboard (which is not ideal for our controller graphs) and it went back to functioning properly again.
The bus may not be the problem, it may be in our real time (third party) software interacting poorly with either PCI slot. We use Tenasys INtime. Has anyone used that and had a problem with crosstalk?
Am I way off on what I am looking for?
Any information would be greatly appreciated and if more info is needed of clarification is needed, post and I will try my best to clear everything up.
Thanks
Patrick

Hello kingsballer12,
This is Andrew Brown, an Applications Engineer from National Instruments. I have tried to find reported instances of PCI slot crosstalk, but I have been unsuccessful so far. The best I can find are some resources on PCI slots including PCI Multifunction DAQ and Choosing the Right Bus for your Measurement Application. Given the two PCI slots location on your computer motherboard and the integration with the system bus, I am inclined to believe the real-time software you are using might be causing the issue.
Please let me know if you have related questions or issues that I could help with. Thanks, and have a great day!
Regards,
Andrew Brown

How's your experience been using inTIME and LabVIEW? I'm thinking of using this to handle RT situations. Also I don't see anything on pricing...

Unfortunately, National Instruments does not support iNtime from TenAsys. However, iNtime applications with LabVIEW have been developed by customers in the past so it can be done.
If you would like information on LabVIEW pricing, all the options can be found here.
Also, here is the PCI 6229 product page if you are interested in that.
