simultaneous buffered analog input & buffered analog output using 4472 & 6052E

I'm creating a Transfer Function Analyser using a 6050E for Analog Output and 4472 for Analog Input, using old style VIs (not DAQmx).  I have found this tutorial at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2903 

I wish to generate a signal, array of DBL, then perform a buffered AO with the 6052E while simultaneously performing a buffered acquisition with the 4472, the AO & AI should be simultaneous.

I'm not convinced I do require an external clocking source.  If I do, can you recommend a source that will fit neatly with my PXI setup?  Is there a PXI source available?  Also, has anyone seen example code for this type of task?
