usb 9237 not recognized

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a new USB 9237 with a 9162 carrier, when i plugged it in the device was not recognized.  NI DAQmx ver 9.2.1 was installed before I plugged it in, all I get is a single blink green light on the 9162.  I switched the 9237 with a 9239 and that device is recognized.

update:  The 9162 carrier is recongnized by windows device manager but says it has a empty slot?  still not listed in MAX.  Could this possibly be a bad module? it is new and never been used before.  I also tried to use it on a different computer with the same results.

Hello Jesse,

Do you have the capability to put the NI-9237 into another NI-9162 carrier or a CompactDAQ chassis to see if it is recognized?

Thank you,

Justin

The 9237 does not work in any of the single carriers, it only works in a 4 slot or 8 slot carrier.  This only applies to the 9237 with the D-sub connector.

Thanks for the help

Hello Jeno,

I noticed that you are using DAQmx 9.2.1, you can upgrade to the most recent version which is 9.2.3 by going here.  Install this upgrade and see if the issue remains.  Also if you are using a USB DAQ device on Windows XP then you should install the Microsoft hotfix reported in Microsoft Knowledge Base 969238.

Thank you,

Justin

Hello JENO,

The version of the NI 9237 that has the DSUB connector is not supported for use in the USB-9162 chassis.  This is because the device uses a different product ID and would require different firmware, that is not currently supported.  In order to use an NI 9237 in a USB-9162, you will need to use the RJ50 version, not the DSUB version.
