why do I not have 5 volts on the 5 volt lines on my PXI-6229.. on either connector ?

I have a PXI chassis with a 6229 board installed...  On either connector (0 or 1) the dedicated 5 volt lines (pins 14, 8 ect...)

are dead...  no 5 volts ?? I have checked by connecting a SBC-68 to each connector....

Have you checked that the SCB-68 fuse is good?  Somewhere between one and all of the +5V output terminals are protected by that fuse.  To check the fuse: power down PC, remove DAQ cable between SCB-68 and board, *then* remove the fuse and check with a multimeter.   If blown, don't just bypass it, however tempting that may be.  First make sure nothing downstream of the SCB-68 is causing a short between +5V and DGND.

ALERT! LabVIEW's subscription-only policy came to an end (finally!). Unfortunately, pricing favors the captured and committed over new adopters -- so tread carefully.

Yes... I yanked the fuse... tried two other SBC-68 as well as an SCC-68...  still nothing....

Be sure you are probing 5V line and DGrnd as + and - for your DMM leads, respectively.  If you only check the 5V line, then you will not see a value.
