Analyses Expression

Hello everyone! I need to add expression "period" in Output variable- Parameter Sweep-Analyses, but there is no such expression in Multisim. Can I create such expression and add it to Analyses Expressions? How can I do it? If I can't do it, how can I get Output variable such as "1/period(Il1)"? Please help me.

Hi there,

There is no "period" function in Multisim. All the available functions (and constants) are listed in the Analysis Expression window when you click Add expressio from your analysis dialog.

However, there is an easy way to obtain a signal's period:

  1. Run transient analysis on your circuit
  2. In the grapher view, make sure that your cursors are on (click Cursor>>Show Cursors)
  3. Drag your cursor close to the point in your signal that you want to measure the period of
  4. Right click the cursor. Click Go to next Y Max =>. Record your value.
  5. Repeat step 4. Now you have the period (take the difference in time).
Hope that helps!

to yyao: That helps if I want just a period. But I need frequency: 1/period(Il1). I have the generator circuit in Multisim and I want to get parametric simulation: dependence frequency of the circuit (1/period(Il1)) from resistance r1. How can I simulate it?

You could export the data to Excel or as a variety of other formats which you can import in LabView and MathScript to analyze more throughly. The export functionality is in the Tools menu of the grapher.

Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge past this. However, others may.
