So I have a circuit I'm trying to do a PCB for. It uses a through hole DIN socket, which I've assigned to Bottom of board.
All other components that are SMT are top of board.
Ultiboard refuses to allow me to place these on the top layer above the through hole part even though there's lots of space to place them between the pads for the socket. I tried it the other way round as well with the THT part on the top and the other SMT parts underneath - that also failed.
How do I force this to work? Ultiboard 14.1

Hi,
I had a similar problem and I found out it's due to the part shoving option that is "ON" by default.
If you move a part to close to another, the other parts shoves away.
Strange enough this is also happening when moving an SMT part on one side near a TH part on the other side.
I can understand it should do that if you come to close to the pins of the TH part but apparently it uses the part outline as the reference to move it away from the part you are moving on the other side.
The only way to avoid this behavior is to turn off the auto shoving option.

Well that makes some sort of sense in a VERY SIMPLE MINDED way - you would think that they would work on the basis of the outline on the same side of the board and just the pins on the other side (if a THT part).
Ho-hum
Thank you
