Cannot Generate a 2D dxf file

I'm using Ultiboard  v11.0, and cannot generate 2D dxf files. It does this on all our boards, it's not just a single case. I do select the properties button in the setup prior to running the export, and all I select is the Board Outline and the 3D Top and Bottom files. No large copper planes or traces are involved. What's very odd is that I can generate the 3D dxf file!

Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?

Hi smh55,

I wanted to know which exact version of Ultiboard are you using. You can find this out by clicking on Help -> About Ultiboard. One thing I would like you to try is to export one of the sample files to DXF and see if that works. You can do this by clicking on the blue open button next to the regular one in the toolbar. Select the file named Wizard Routed and open it. Then click on File -> Export. Then select DXF and click on properties. Then select the board outline, 3D Info-Top and 3D Info-Bottom layers. Click ok and then select Export. Try to open the exported file with a DXF viewer and see if it works. 

Please let me know what happens.

I'm using Ultiboard Version 11.0.278. I ran the test as you indicated, and Ultiboard writes the DXF file out immediately. The file appears as it should upon opening using AutoCAD.

What do you think could be causing the problem on my design then?

I'm having a similar problem, I can export 2D dxf, usually board outline and top silkscreen, I cannot open it with anything though. Tried several versions of autocad, Edrawings etc.

E-drawings say "error reading file"

Autocad say "Syntax error or premature end of file on line 811859.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded."

What can be the problem?

It was the version of Ultiboard we were running that caused the DXF issue. We upgraded and it resolved the problem.
