Copy Route Error

When I try to use the Copy Route function it does not work correctly.  I select my source group and the previewed area is much larger than the desired source group.  The copy route function appears to be selecting nearby vias that are not associated with that parts group.  Has anyone seen this problem?  It is very difficult to use the copy route function when you are always having to delete vias that become scattered over the board surface.  Perhaps this is an issue NI needs to address in future versions.

I do not know if you can do this, but posting your Ultiboard file would help us more clearly see what is happening.

Here is a backup version of my design.  It is not exactly like the current design but the Copy Route problem still occurs.  Use part group PD2 as the source group.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to defer this to someone who has a little more experience using this feature. Based on the file you posted I could not see what you were seeing. It appeared to copy all the traces that were there to another part group with no DRC errors, missing traces or any extra items like vias.

Which version do you have? The latest version is 10.1 and if you may be using 10.0.1 then that might be what is occurring here. Just my theory since I am not really sure.

Sorry I wasn't of much help on this.

Copy route is a complete PITA to use, I see it as a completely useless feature....

If you really want to replicate paths that are constant for what looks like some type of spectrum analyzer or equalizer filtering. I did the following:

Select the trace and via filters, disable all others......select trace area, copy > paste, the virtual outline will allow you to real time place the results and watch for any DRC errors in placement in real time, when happy release.....this pic took 12 seconds to do all 4.

Is this what you are trying to do?

Kittmaster, your suggestion of copying and pasting was exactly what I wound up doing.  It's frustrating when learning a new application and spending more time finding workarounds to features that shouldn't be that complicated.  Thanks for your help.

There bus routing doesn't work, and it seems anything that is "grouped" just plain doesn't work as it should. It really needs a major overhaul.......glad you got it sorted.
