Having problems getting circuit to function at all. Using a crystal, 4060B and 4017B and I'm not sure about how to wire up missing Vcc and gnd pins. Any help would be appreciated. I've attached a jpg image of the circuit.

Hi Terry,
Can you please post the actual circuit so we can check to see what is causing the issue.

Hi Tayyab,
I've replaced the HC-49/U_3Mhz crystal with and equivalent circuit. The equivalent crystal circuit sort of works in the circuit I'm sending to you, but now the problem is that most of the 4017B outputs aren't working. The only output I can get something from on the 4017B is a signal from the ~05-9 output. The 4060B seems to work fine...I can see the output signals from several different output pins on the 4060B. My initial suspicion is there are problems with the crystal model and the 4017B model. I've also tried to load a different 4017B model.....no change in output occurred.
tks for the help, Terry

Hi Terry,
I looked into your circuit and then I experimented with the part 4017bt by it self. The part seems to work properly. You can look at the attached circuit. I would suggest that you should re-think the logic of your circuit and see if it is correct or not.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tayyab,
Thanks for the response. Before I emailed you earlier I played with the 4017B and verified its performance by itself. The problem appears when the 4060B is driving the 4017B. The divide by 10 output on the 4017B works fine but the rest of the outputs don't output anything. That's why I'm thinking there is a problem with the 4017B model when driven by the 4060B.

Hi Tayyab,
I was playing around with the 4017B and noticed that its none performance is frequency based. I gradually increased the frequency to around 4Mhz and performance of this model is negatively effected. Per the performance specification for this IC, it should be apply to handle this frequency with an upward adjustment of the Vdd. So guess my question is why is this model frequency restricted?

Hi Terry,
Thankyou for your feedback. The models are generally created by the manufacturer's to most accurately represent the component. I will let R&D know about the issues with this model.
