Fantastic- got it sussed now.
Route the board as normal- then assign the GND to a plane on the top layer- the other pins that didnt get connected were on NET 0 so I assigned a plane to that on the bottom layer. I didnt want/need a VCC plane.
Its a brilliant way to add some extra shielding to the board, save etching solution AND improve thermal dissipation on the board!
It is actually REALLY useful on multilayer boards that need lots of shielding- simply add a ground plane to unused layers above and below sensitive tracks- as long as its done last- the software leaves spaces for any vias and through holes.
I'm well impressed (why havent I used this before 🙂
