Manual clock

I'm looking for a way to create a button which, when pressed, will clock a device such as a flip flop one cycle. Basically a manual clock so I can step through any circuits I wish. Basically like a de-bounced button which will connect to a clockable device.

Any suggestions?

Here my idea: 555 Timer in mono-stable mode. When the push-button to pin 2 from ground  is pressed it will go high for a period of time and the after the time-out will go low. This is of course dependent on your frequency of operation and may not work in high frequency applications above 1MHz.
