MultiSim - I can't delete a broken variable in the Simulation window

Using MultiSim 12, I had an issue where I was trying to do a DC operating point simulation, and one of the circuit variables wasn't showing up (the current going through a pot).  So I tried to add it manually using "Add Expression" - and I just tried to add "I(R2)".  Needless to say, it didn't work - but that's fine.

The problem is that now, if I have any circuit that has a resistor designated R2, the list of variables in the simulation (right pane) lists the faulty I(R2), and I can't remove it or delete it.  Note that the real I(R2) might be also there - and that one I can move from pane to pane.  But the broken I(R2) is stuck in the right pane and I can't delete or do anything with it.

How do I get rid of this?

Hello,

Attaching your file might help us see this issue more clearly and try to help you resolve it.

Hmm.  Originally it was not a file based problem.  I could create a brand new empty file, and if I've got a resistor named R2 and do any sort of DC analysis, that broken I(R2) would appear on the right pane and there was nothing I can do to get rid of it.

I just tried now with an empty file, and that didn't happen though.  I don't know if the problem has gone away (if so, it would have been as a result of a reboot - because restarting the app did not fix it), or if it will show up again as I continue to work.  I'll do some more testing and let you know if it pops up again.

However, if the problem is reproducible (I admit I'm reluctanct to try), then it's definitely a bug.  I'll keep you updated.

Doven,

I can reproduce the fact that the variable or expression 'persists' in the right hand window from 1 circuit to the next in the same session (especially if the same refdes/component exists in both circuits).  However I am not able to reproduce the condition where the variable cannot be removed.   Also it is only saved if the analysis is opened and the entire analysis is setup and the user presses 'OK' or 'Simulate' and then the circuit is saved.

Also I was able to reproduce when the circuit is saved, the analysis variables are saved to the file (even if the refdes was removed prior to saving and is not in the circuit when saved) - these expressions appear to be hidden until the component refdes returns (so if you remove R2 the expressions for R2 will disappear until you add back R2).

However I've found that unloading and reloading Multisim, any variables saved does not seem to persist from 1 circuit to the next, so if you do see the problem again, it should go away easily by reopening Multisim (I don't believe expressions are saved in the Multisim configuration anywhere).

Usually any analysis configuration is saved directly with the Multisim circuit file along with components, net connections and any Multisim instruments you have configured.   For this reason I am guessing the bad analysis configuration is attached to the file, but I could see where it could persist from 1 circuit to the next while Multisim resides in memory.

If you do see this again, please save the file and send it along.
