Multisim - How to obtain harmonics spectrum in AC regulator?

I'm studying ac chopper circuit (AC to AC) using Multisim. I have a problem to obtain harmonics spectrum waveform from the circuit. What I know is only to apply fourier analysis, but doesn't it only applicable for DC output (square waveform) only instead of AC output (sinuisodal)?

In my version which is the Power Pro Edition, there is a Spectrum Analyzer instrument. I haven't had a reason to use it so you would have to read about it in the help file to learn how to use it. It may be you have a different version and this instrument isn't available. If that is the case then at this time I have no idea on another method to do this.

Thanks lacy for replied.

I have tried to apply Spectrum Analyzer for AC voltage output. But it wouldn't get the best as it is by using Fourier Analysis (for DC) where I need to find out the magnitude of each harmonics at specific frequency. Unfortunately Spectrum Analyzer only capable to produce harmonics spectrum at high frequency (minimum of 1kz) instead of small frequency such 50Hz for 1st Harmonics, 150Hz for 3rd Harmonics and so on.

I’ll really appreciate any advice. Cheers.

Hi,

You can do a fourier analyses on AC as well as DC signals, the best option would probably be to either wire the inputs and outputs of the area you wish to measure the harmonics on into a bode plotter, or to use the fourier analysis tools under Simulate > Analyses > Fourier Analyses.

All the best,
