Need to rename sheets in MS10.1

Hi,

I started a new design based on an old design.  I saved the new design with the new name, but the old design name remanes in the sheet names.  If I go to hierarchy and rename each sheet it only allows me to rename the portion after the #.  The old design name remains there ahead of the #.

How can I fully rename the sheets?

Thanks,

David B

Hi David,

The sheet names are attached to file names in Multisim 10.1. To rename a sheet or hierarchical block, close your project and change the name of the file of the schematic sheet or hierarchical block. When you open your project again, Multisim will tell you that it can't find the hierarchical block that you just renamed and will prompt you to find it. When you tell Multisim the new file name, Multisim will automatically update your schematic and change the sheet names as it appears in the design toolbox.

Remember to back up your project before doing this!

This is how I did it in the first place, but even though the file name is changed the sheets names retain the old file name.

Thats strange. That method seems to work for me. Would it be possible to send me your design for us to take a look at?

I checked again and sure enough the sheet names still had the old design name in.  I saved it again with another new name and this time the sheet names changed.  I deleted the old new design and resaved the copy with updated sheet names to the original name I wanted and now it is OK.

What I discovered is if you rename the design outside of MS in explorer it does not update the sheet names, and after that if you do a save as and use the same file name (to replace the original file) it does not update the sheet names.  The sheet names only update when you save to a DIFFERENT file name from within MS.

I guess that could be considered a bug though fairly minor.
