Just found out pins 1 and 3 are swapped in the footprint for SOT150P400X160-4RN I'm using 14.1. Pin 1 should be the one marked with a dot and the pad is numbered 3.

Thanks for the feedback, you are right on this. Actually, this is something R&D is aware of and it could be fixed in further releases. We have a Corrective Action Request on this (number 274657), when it is fixed you can look this number up in the bug fixes for that version.

What bothers me is that there doesn't seem to be any way of deleting it from the Master database. So this footprint is always looming there, waiting for me to make the mistake of not checking any part I use that is a SOT-89 and changing it to my corrected footprint.

Yeah you are right on that. What you could do (if you haven't yet done) is to copy the footprint to the user database and edit it there. Since Ultiboard searches for component first in the User Database that should be the first option to appear.
