Problem with measuring Open RESISTOR using multimeter.

I tried to simulate a simple trouble using a simple circuit. But I am confused because even though I set the resistor's fault as OPEN in two terminals, still it's measuring a voltage, which in theory there should be no voltage flowing throught vBE terminals, right?

I upload this design as an attachment. Please enlighten me of the problem. I really need help.

Hello,

No in theory there should be no current flowing between those terminals. However a voltage difference will (or will not) be there depending on the potential difference at the two points you are measuring. If it's a fault at both pins on the resistor then our simulation should effectively be the same if we just remove the resistor completely (which it is - you can try it yourself). The voltage you are seeing would be the one coming from the TR circuit on the right. Maybe in ideal situations you wouldn't be seing those millivolts (that for this kind of circuit you might as well treat as 0), but this has to do with the SPICE model from the manufacturer. If you use different models you'll see different voltages out of that transistor gate pin.

Kind regards,
