Simulate an ASK waveform (Amplitude Shift Keying) in Multisim

Hi everyone

Does anybody know how to simulate an ASK waveform (Amplitude Shift Keying) in Multisim?

Or can somebody tell me if there is a virtual equipment that could do the same in Multisim?

Thanks in advance

Kelson,

Here are two approaches you can try.   Basically it is my understanding that simple on-off ASK allows you to switch on/off from the transmitter side and the receiver side will detect the presence or absence of the signal.   It looks like there are more sophisticated ASK formats where various levels can be used, however here is the simplest case to start.  The first circuit is a manual approach first and then a more automated approach using a LabVIEW instrument is shown second.

Kelson,

Here is the second circuit using a LabVIEW based instrument (the .txt file is the example pulse waveform).   You could also use the built in Word Generator in Multisim to generate the pulse, but I created this instrument because it allows you to preview the signal and save/load waveforms.   You'll need to place the .llb in the /lvinstruments folder.

Also some users may need to add the LabVIEW compatibility updates as well:
