Ultiboard 10.1 too slow to view 5.71 files

Hi Orbit/Lacy:

To improve the speed, you can turn off showing copper areas (this may not work for you if you want screen shots). Go to Options > Global Preferences, select the PCB Design tab and uncheck Show Copper Areas

If you are doing editing of the file, turning of DRC & Net check, as well as Part Shoving will also improve speed.

I hope this gives a little help.

Hello, Im new to the use of this software but perhaps I can offer some insight. Ive had instances where the software would seemingly hang for a an insane extended period of time while it tried to sort things out. Usualy it was caused by something mundane like a part Rotation. I was able to resolve this by Errasing the Physical connections.

Ultimately it seems that a file which is saved with something that the software is having trouble Resolving, may need to be Remade from scratch. Otherwise hope that you do not make a save to file in the works, when one of these have exibited themselves. Otherwise It might well be there when you reopen the file.

However at the very least Multisim usualy produces the Resolution Program that will attempt to Correct issues on its own. This usaualy takes a min or two to work itself out, and has a fairly good success rate. But sometimes even if the Modual says the problem is fixed, Multisim will encounter the issue again asson as you try to start the Circuit.

When multisim or Utiliboard hang and no troubleshoot function open, I usualy force exit, and attempt to recover from a previous point.
Its a major nusance. But sometimes its the only option.

BTW:
I have a Sony VAIO, with Centrino Core 2 Duo (1.73mhz) and 1GB RAM, running VISTA Premium.
This System has No 3rd party video installed, just a generic Intel chipset...
Despite warnings of issues with Dual Processor systems, I have had no related issues.

Thanks, disabling copper areas helped quite a bit. Now I at least have sub-minute response time on mouse clicks. Still __s__l__o__w__ but usuable for getting my screenshots (would not have worked for a real design job though)

Hi Rflulling:

I think you are experiencing a separate issue. I suggest you start a new post (with same information) so more people will look at your specific issue.
