Ultiroute 9 Power pro question about not being able to remove a net from routing on a layer

I can't remove 1 net (gnd) from routing on layer 1 in spreadsheet view.  I can change all other nets on my design to route on all (1111) or no (0000) layers, but not the gnd net,  it always ends up (1000).  I tried renaming the net and removing all components connected to that net, but still it wont let me delete it from from layer 1 (top).  I'm doing a 4 layer board.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd be gratefull.

This is a follow up to the question I just asked.  By playing around some with my design, I found the same thing happening when I just copied a component (a capacitor) and placed it on the board.  If I use the netlist editor to connect one of the pads of the new component to a net, say net 2, then when I go to the spreadsheet edit area for net 2, I can't get net 2 to not route on layer 1 (want 0000, but can only get 1000).  I don't know if this is related to the problems I was having with the gnd net in the previous posting, but it has the same symptoms.
