change rlc footprint

Hi,

I made some footprints voor the rlc components. I would like to add these footprints to the rlc list but i am not allowed. Is there a way so that i can keep the easy way of choosing the rlc component with the value i want and adding my footprints to the components?

From what I see that option is limited to the Master Database and that cannont be altered by the user. I do not believe what you are wanting is possible. This might be something that needs to be added to the feature request list as I can see where it would be handy for all the databases

The only option I see is to add them to the user database into a family and label it whatever you want. This way they will be all in one place when you need them.

Sorry, but this is the only options I see.

Along those lines, I think it would be VERY helpful to be able to change the footprint of multiple parts at once. It is a laborious task to convert a board to SMT parts ONE. AT. A. TIME. I think being able to do that would be just as important, perhaps moreso.

In Multisim you can use Shift>Left Mouse Button to highlight your selected components and then click on one of them in the spreadsheet and use the dialog box to select one form the database. This will change all the footprints at one time. I will investigate to see if Ultiboard is capable of the same thing.

This techniique is assuming that all the parts will end up having the same type of footprint at then end of the swap. I don't know if this is what you are refering to or that it will be of any help, but I thought I would let you know about it if you didin't already.
